تعتمد لعبة عنبر على السرعة والحركة ودقة التصويب، ويشترك فيها مجموعة من الأولاد على شكل فريقين، ويتراوح عدد كل فريق ما بين ثلاثة الى أربعة لاعبين، حيث يتم إحضار عدد من العلب الفارغة للمشروبات الغازية، واذ لم تتوافر يتم الاستعاضة عنها بمجموعة من الأحجارالصغيرة والتي يسهل وضع الواحدة فوق الأخرى.
ثم يقوم احد لاعبي الفريقين، ومن مسافة نحو اربعة امتار تقريبا بقذف كرة (والكرة عبارة عن قطعة دائرية تلف بقطعة قماش لتكون مرنة)، ويتم رمي الكرة على العلب الفارغة الموضوعة بعضها فوق بعض، والتي تصل الى ثلاث او اربع علب، فإذا نجح اللاعب في اسقاط العلب عبر التهديف الصحيح للكرة فتحسب نقطة لفريقه، واذا اخطأت الكرة الهدف يلتقط بقية اللاعبين الكرة التي يجب ان تلمس جسده لتتحول دفة التصويب على العلب الفارغة للفريق الآخر.
